Eddie’s Addiction Recovery Story: From Escape to Healing

How Addiction Started

In Eddie’s addiction recovery story, addiction was never about the high – it was about escape. Depression and isolation made everyday life feel impossible, and substances were the only thing that made him feel like he belonged.

The Turning Point

The turning point came in a rehab meeting, when a stranger shared a story that sounded almost exactly like his own, and showed that recovery was possible. “I heard their story and it was almost like mine,” Eddie recalls. “And they had found the way out.”

Finding Recovery and Healing

What he found in recovery went far deeper than sobriety. “Recovery isn’t just about stopping the drugs and alcohol. It’s about mind, body and soul. It’s about healing. Because for me, drugs wasn’t the problem. I was.”
Today, Eddie wakes up feeling joy, gratitude, and the simple pleasure of being alive. And he wants you to know: “We do recover.”
